Solar Heating systems use free energy from the sun to heat the water in your pool. A standard heating panel forces the water circulation through many small diameter tubes. As the water flows through the panels, it picks up the heat energy radiated from the sun. The heated water is then directed back into your pool.

One huge advantage that Solar Heating has over Heat Pumps and other style heaters (propane, LPG, Resistance) is that once the Solar system is installed, there are virtually no further operating costs. With the rising cost of electricity and fossil fuels it is becoming much more common for pool owners to think twice before turning on their pool heater. That concern is non-existant with solar heating.

When considering the installation of a solar heating system, keep in mind that your geographic location and climate will affect the ability of your solar heater to extend your swimming season. Because the heating capability of your system will depend on the amount of solar radiation available at any given time, solar heating is most efficient during daylight hours on a clear day. However, just as you can still get a tan (or even burn) on a cloudy day, your Solar Heating system may still provide heating under cloud cover, depending on the amount of Solar Heat available.
