Hayward C1200 Stuck Lid Removal

The lid on my C1200 Hayward Filter Unit is stuck, what do I do?

Answer:

Over time, the o-ring that seals the lid on both the C900 & C1200 Cartridge Filter System requires lubrication and or replacement due to swelling or deformity. If you cannot remove the lid by hand, try gently tapping the 4 lid tabs upwards with a rubber mallet one at a time in a circular pattern. The tab lids are located on the lid where it joins with the base of the filter housing. Watch the lid joint carefully to ensure that the lid is moving evenly on all sides. Once the lid is off, inspect the o-ring for damage or deformity and replace/lubricate. While the lid is off it is also a good idea to check the lid and base areas where they connect for any burrs or damage that may be causing the lid to stick.

Pentair Rainbow 320 Question:

The whole top part of my Rainbow 320 Chlorinator (body tube) rotates or unscrews when I try to remove lid for a refill. What is causing this?

Answer:

There are a couple of things that may cause what is happening with your Rainbow 320 unit. We will outline the most likely scenario here. The 320 Chlorinator (in its standard configuration) is mounted into your existing plumbing by way of the diverter tee included with the unit. Once the diverter tee is installed, the Body Tube (upper assembly) of the Rainbow 320 threads onto the tee and is held in place by a set screw. If you look at the body of the unit directly underneath the chlorine control valve, you should see a small 1/2" diameter hole, this is the access hole for the set screw. This retaining screw may be damaged or missing which would allow the Body Tube to move freely when trying to remove the lid of the unit, especially so if the lid is very snug or the lids o-ring needs replacing.

Salt Chlorine Generator Question:

How do I make my own Salt Chlorine Generator?

Answer:
WOW! Although Salt Chlorine Generators operate based on a simple electrochemical process, the time, energy, and costs involved (not to mention safety and local building codes!) in building a unit from scratch may very well be prohibitive. Simply put, we don't know how to build one and we strongly recommend purchasing a pre-built unit...As we like to say "It's better to Spend more time IN your Pool, than ON it! Our Salt Chlorine Generators start as low as $159.99 Click here to check them out!

Pentair Model 320 Question:

How do I add chlorine tabs to the Pentair Model 320 Chlorinator?

Answer:
Recharging the Pentair Rainbow 320 Chlorinator is quick and easy.

1. Turn the 320's control valve to the closed position and then shut off the pump.
2. Wait one Minute to allow both water and fumes to drain from the feeder
3. Leave the control valve in the off position and turn the pump back on. The check valve will prevent water from entering the feeder.
4. Remove the units cap and fill with the proper size tablets or sticks (refer to the owners manual for specifications.)
5. Inspect the lids (caps) o-ring to ensure that it is clean, undamaged, properly lubricated, and in position. Replace the cap and hand tighten only.
6. Open the control valve, and return to it's original setting.

AquaCal H155 Heater Question:

Our AquaCal Heater has stopped working this Morning and the digital panel displays "FS"!

Answer:
The AquaCal H155 will diplay the error code "FS" on the screen if the Air Temperature drops below 50° F or if the unit is in defrost mode. Once the air temperature rises above 50, or the unit completes it's defrost cycle, it will resume normal operation.

Aquachek Color Chart Question:

My color chart for the Aqua Chek test strips is sun faded, what do I do?

Answer:
Any pool and spa water testing strips should be stored in a cool dry place to avoid damage to the strips themselves. Exposing test strips to heat and humidity (among other things) can cause test strips to read incorrectly. That being said however, the vials do get left outside and the charts fade or get lost and or damaged in one way or another. This topic has been raised a few times, so we have added a basic copy of the Aquachek Pool And Spa Color Chart Here!
